Constantly on the hunt for a new updo that compliments my hair laziness I saw a similar style on Alica Keys a year ago and was instantly hooked.
HOW TO
*SECTION OFF HAIR A INCH TO TWO INCHES ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE, PARTING TO THE BASE OF YOUR NECK MAKING A V SHAPE. LEAVE MIDDLE SECTION OF HAIR OUT MAKING A MO-HAWK.
Tip-You may use gel, pomade, or curl pudding to slick back your edges when creating low pony. I prefer sheabutter mixed with an oil.
*THEN START TO INCORPORATE THE LOW PONY WITH THE MIDDLE SECTION OF HAIR BY TWISTING OR BRAIDING UPWARDS. KEEP TWISTING OR BRAIDING UNTIL YOU REACH THE END OF YOUR HAIR AND WRAP THE SECTION AROUND EITHER SIDE YOU PREFER AND PIN. VIOLA YOU ARE READY TO SHUT IT DOWN WITH YOUR NEW FIERCE DO.
Tip- I usually bend over when I start to twist. Also another helpful hint is when ever my hair is not cooperating (which is often) I will add Afro kinky hair pinned in the middle of the mo-hawk and then gather the rest of my hair around, then twist upward. This is perfect for ladies who do not have a certain length to create this style, adding afro kinky hair will allow you the option.
***In the above pic the model is wearing braids and did not section off sides of hair. When natural hair is not in a braided style sectioning off the sides of hair creates a smoother look***
