QRUSH LOOK OF THE DAY- GENTS EDITION

Qrush Look of the Day comes from Usher or "Ursh" what I like to call him, he was spotted at Radio One in London.  Fellas if you are looking for a casual weekend look this one is for you.  It is a smart yet relaxing look anyone can pull off, with pieces directly from your closet....maybe minus the leopard shoes, lol.

      My name is Eureka and I am happily addicted to protective styling.... And a resounding "Hi Eureka" fills the room, no rehab for me! .  The definition for Addiction means "a giving over or surrender" which speaks volumes on how I wear my hair coupled with the fact I cannot recall the last time my hair was worn out and or down "surrender" is the perfect word to describe my approach to hair styling .  In my opinion protective styling is critical to maintain and retain length for natural hair. One of  the biggest natural hair myths (more info here) when you are "chemical free" your hair is not suscpetal to breakage....wrong!   Our hair is more prone to breakage because as a result of  our natural curl pattern oils from our scalp have a harder time traveling down the hair shaft. This is the reason alot of naturals complain about dryness and why moisture is critical.

Gone are the days of "mother hen" buns you only wear to work.  The natural hair community has stepped up and showed out providing us with a  plethora of resources dedicated to natural hair styles. Honestly in the beginning I was totally against not wearing my hair in curly fro at all times.  But as time progressed my tresses gained length and subjecting my hair to the sometimes harsh elements of the environment forced me to revisit the idea again......another one of the best decisions I have made and not looking back!

BROWN FRIED RICE & LIFESTYLE CHANGE

Growing up in Japan one of the 1st meal I ever learn to cook was fried rice.  With operation "Preserve You" in full swing I had to find a way to incorporate a healthier verison  of a meal I hold dear to my heart and not feel gulity.  By adding brown rice and using boneless chicken tenders I somehow knew this dish would be another remixed staple recipe!!

The event was hosted by TextureMedia president and co-founder Michelle Breyer and Taren Guy (Taren916 of YouTube) who kicked off the 1st Annual Texture on The Runway Event, explaining the beauty that is textured hair. Hair Rules simply ruled; huge hair in coils, curls, twists, HUGE hair in waves! Stylist Nick Arrojo from ARROJO introduced the ‘American Wave’: big hair in big, loose, bouncy waves. Matrix displayed fabulous Neo-Victorian inspired styles, poofed hair, crimped, braided and teased to create massive volume.

I am completely head over heels in love with head wraps, they will forever be a staple. There are no limits to how you can wear them in any color and pattern.  And lets talk about  how head wraps will be your superman or superwomen and swoop in to save the day when you are having a bad hair day or just not in the mood to deal with your hair (which is often for me).
